NEMO project wins another research prize
Maryam Haroutunian, a PhD student from Newcastle University won
first prize for her project presentation titled "Nature
in Engineering for Monitoring the Oceans - Bio Inspiration from
Marine Animals for a Novel Approach to AUV Design".
Over 60 international delegates from academia and industry
gathered in the School of Marine Science and Technology,
Newcastle University, for the inaugural Marine Technology
Postgraduate Conference held on 10th - 11th June 2010. The event
was sponsored by Lloyd's Register, the Royal Institution of
Naval Architects and the Institute of Marine Engineering,
Science and Technology.
The conference provided a forum for PhD and early career
researchers involved in Marine Technology subjects to present
their work to colleagues and peers. Delegates were treated to a
wide range of presentations spanning the field of marine
technology. Thirty projects were presented over the two days,
grouped into research themes including hydrodynamics, ship
structures, offshore engineering, marine engineering and marine
environment.
